Forest
acrylic and oil on paper 12"x16"
I painted this from a photo I took in Kilarney, Ireland. It's really hard to capture the beautiful greens of Ireland!

Stormy Waters
acrylic and oil on paper 12"x16"
I'm really into painting waves lately. They're fun and challenging and satisfying to my soul.
Twilight
oil on paper 16"x20"
This is a painting that I did from a book by Jerry Yarnell. It is a repeat of one of the very first paintings I ever did. The instructions would have me add much more detail: a tree in the foreground, rocks and weeds in the lakeshore, more sunlight on the meadow by the church. But right now, the painting evokes in me a sense of twilight, and it seems just right. So, I've signed it and moved on.

The high road
Oil on paper 12"x16"
I found this painting somewhat challenging, wanting to capture the impression that you were right there on the trail, observing the grandeur and the majesty of the view. This was painted from a photo that was recently "explored" in Flickr, with permission from the photographer. Here is a link to the original photo:

More Mountains
acrylic on paper 8"x10"
This is a familiar theme/scene - but done while practicing with new brushes and styles.

Shady Lane
acrylic on paper 12" x 16"
I suppose I could have spent more time detailing the grass and the shadows, but ovreall I am pleased with the composition, the perspective and the colors.

Cliff Face
oil on canvas paper 8"x10"
I liked painting this, although I wish I had better control over painting what I actually see. I see all the flaws in this, areas that should be shaded that ended up highlighted, and vice versa. But, if I keep practicing, I will get better at it. Right?
Here is another version that I did with a limited palette of watercolors:
watercolor on paper 6" x 8"

Mt Hood Meadows
Oil on Canvas Paper 16"x20"
I could have painted the mountain a little better, but overall I am pleased with the composition and the sense of depth portrayed here.

Sunset Bay
acrylic and oil on paper 10"x 8"
This one did not wow me. I call it an exercise in blending and one I didn't do very well. But, practice, practice, practice
